FAQ: How much does it cost?
For ongoing insurance and client billing support I invoice you monthly, charging a negotiated percentage of your net income. This is based on many factors like the complexity of your claims, the number of clients you have, if you are a solo practitioner or a group, etc.
A la carte services are invoiced biweekly at a negotiated hourly rate, depending on the estimated length of the task and my involvement.
No matter the service, I work with each of my clients to find a rate that feels sustainable for both of us.
FAQ: What do you NOT do?
Violate insurance law or HIPAA (to the best of my knowledge and ability).
Work in software other than Simple Practice (sorry TherapyNotes and other folks!)
Charge clients or track client billing outside of Simple Practice’s internal card reader (cash, checks, and external card reader payments must be recorded by you).
Work the same hours as you :) But don’t worry, if we work together I will let you know exactly when you can reach me and set up regular check in meetings with you.
I got into billing by happy accident. I was working as an office manager for a group therapy practice in Chicago, IL when their biller unexpectedly quit. My boss said “I think you might be good at this, do you want to try it?” And they were right! I have been a freelance contractor working for myself in this industry for the last five years. After starting with mental health professionals, I now have all kinds of clinicians on my roster, including speech and occupational therapists. When I’m not working on billing, you can find me wearing my other hat as a theater maker and educator, which has led me to Chicago, Austin, NYC, and now Little Rock, AR, where I am currently based.
As a person with a complicated family history and various neurodivergences, I have worked with mental and behavioral health professionals as a client for my entire adult life. I bring emotional intelligence, empathy, strong problem solving skills, and cultural competency to my work with all practitioners and their clients. To put it simply: I know how to talk to people and I like doing it. It’s important to me to form a unique working relationship with each of my clients that helps their business run smoothly - bonus points if I get to force these nasty insurance companies to pay what they are supposed to along the way.
